Picture Yourself In The Cold Chain Industry?
Ms Lauren Cavasin, Distribution Manager for Bidvest Australia Ltd, Queensland, was the proud winner of the 2008 Frank Vale Award. The award was announced at a glittering Gala Dinner held at Crowne Plaza Hunter Valley. Lauren is pictured above receiving the Award from Mr Peter Quinn, Chairman of the Refrigerated Warehouse and Transport Association of Australia Ltd (right) and Mr Martin Porter, Managing Director of the Retracom Group of Companies, sponsor of the Frank Vale Award.
The Frank Vale Award is named in honour of one of the great pioneers of the Australian Cold Chain Industry, Frank W. Vale, who was a great innovator and major contributor to the growth of the modern Cold Chain Industry. This industry covers the entire chain of participants moving temperature-controlled foodstuffs from the growing source to the place of final consumption.
The Award was instigated in 1993 by the Refrigerated Warehouse and Transport Association of Australia (RWTA), the only national association that represents the many companies involved in the Cold Chain. It is the only Award of its type that recognises an outstanding young achiever in the industry. Finalists are drawn from each state and the winner is announced at the Gala Dinner during the annual RWTA National Conference.
The 2008 winner received not only a plaque and the acclamation of all her peers but also a $5,000 travel prize, proudly sponsored by the Retracom Group of Companies, to attend the 2009 Global Cold Chain Alliance Convention held in Palm Springs, California.
