The Export Meat Industry Advisory Council (EMIAC)
The Industry/Government council established to consider all issues relating to exported meat products. Concerned mainly with negotiating practical inspection and standards regimes set by importing countries and groups - USA, European Union, Japan, Korea etc.
The Export Meat Industry Charging Review Committee
This committee, whilst closely Linked to EMIAC (all committee members are also on the EMIAC), concerns itself with reaching agreement with A.Q.I.S. and the Treasury over fees and charges to be applied to Export Registered establishments.
Species Testing Committee
Species testing is an integral part of most importing country's requirements and can be a time and labor consuming exercise. The Committee is currently considering the introduction of new equipment and methodologies to improve the accuracy and speed of the testing, whilst producing savings through efficiencies.
Temperature Testing Protocol Sub-Committee
Established by the RWTA (NSW Division) to produce a protocol which should be recognised and used by the industry, which will provide a template of testing procedures that can be used by all sectors of the Australian Cold Chain.
Food Safety Sub-Committees
A number of these sub-committees have been formed in most states. A mix of government and industry representatives advise the appropriate regulatory authority on the practical application and effects of current and proposed regulations.
Occupational Health and Safety
The RWTA (Victorian Division) has entered into a project with the Victorian Government to develop prevention strategies for injuries in the cold storage sectors. Obviously, any findings or recommendations will be closely looked at by other states.
Food Chain Assurance Advisory Group (FCAAG)
This working group forms part of the Federal Government's security strategy and is responsible for Advising the government on issues and matters which could pose a security risk by way of natural disaster, negligence or terrorism to Australia's food chain.
Australian Logistics Council
An initiative of the Australian government and managed by the Department of Transport and Regional Services (DOTARS), the A.L.C. has been established to liaise with industry to investigate and implement ways and means of achieving "world's best practices" in logistics. The RWTA was invited to join the A.L.C. as an implementation Partner to assist the A.L.C. by way of industry information on the Australian cold chain.
