New Global Frozen‑Food Protocol Launches: Elevating Temperature Monitoring & Supply Chain Efficiency

On July 29, 2025, the American Frozen Food Institute (AFFI) and the Global Cold Chain Alliance (GCCA), with backing from regional bodies such as the German Frozen Food Institute and the British Frozen Food Federation, unveiled a new international protocol for temperature monitoring across the entire cold chain.

This standardized, data-driven framework guides operators—from manufacturers to logistics providers and retailers—on how to record, track, and analyze temperature fluctuations at critical points throughout production, transport, and distribution.

The aim is clear: enhance product quality, improve operational transparency, cut energy consumption, and reduce CO₂ emissions while fostering consistency and sustainability industry‑wide.
