The RWTA Ammonia Emergency Management Training, delivered by the Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) Training and Emergency Management South Unit (TEMS) has won the Highly Commended Achievement gong at the Commissioners Awards for Excellence 2019.

This was awarded for collaboration between the RWTA and QFES in recognition of the partnership and creation of this specialised training. It addresses risks associated with the use of anhydrous ammonia in the Refrigerated Warehouse and Transport Industry. This collaboration identified risks associated in the initial stages of highly dangerous ammonia related incidents and created a tailored training platform to mitigate these dangers.

It is an exemplary demonstration of the ability of the RWTA to work closely with industry customers and the QFES to create a risk based approach to ensure a safer environment for employees and the community alike.
